As a Practice Director in employment law, Dean has extensive experience in Australian workplace laws, particularly those relevant to the building and construction industry, government, manufacturing, education and engineering including all aspects of managing unlawful industrial action, right of entry, unfair dismissals and general protections.
Dean has significant experience appearing in the Fair Work Commission, Queensland Industrial Relations Commission and regularly representing clients in large and complex industrial disputes, advocating in unfair dismissal or adverse action matters. Working closely with CEOs and executive management teams, Dean is often sought out for his expertise in project scoping, risk management and disputes.
Dean, with his extensive employer background, would not be described as a traditional black letter lawyer only focused on the legal problem. He is sought out by Directors for his problem-solving skills, out of the box thinking, practicality, provision of tactical business solutions and ability to grasp the larger picture including market sensitivities.
Clients Large & Small:
Government, Manufacturing, Education, Mining, and Construction are the largest full-time employers. Dean has a close understanding of these businesses, their diverse markets, activities, pressures, costs, weaknesses and strengths.
Dean has advised some of Australia’s largest organisations including builders, retailers and developers. Dean regularly assists clients with their operations throughout Australia.
With a long history of making submissions to the State Government, including representing several peak bodies on industry policy issues and proposed legislative changes before Parliamentary Committees. Dean has experience in assisting clients, interest groups or industries wishing to engage in the legislative process or policy development.
